Boston Celtics legend Paul Pierce has been heavily invested in the Eastern Conference Final ever since the New York Knicks defeated his former club in the semifinal.
Pierce has not been shy about trolling the Knicks and their fans on social media after every game the Indiana Pacers defeated New York. However, after the Pacers trounced the Knicks 125-108 in Game 6 to clinch the Eastern Conference title, the 2008 NBA champion took a more encouraging approach in an Instagram story.
“You know what I’m saying? Good year, Knicks,” Pierce said in a video he posted to his personal Instagram page. “You know what I’m saying? You got something to build on. Y’all beat the Celtics this year. You know what I’m saying?
“You gotta add some pieces. Obviously, y’all gotta get some depth. But, yeah, nobody expected y’all to get this far anyway. You know, you gotta build on this. Y’all look good. Y’all look good. Y’all made it to the Conference Final. Y’all beat the Celtics in the second round. What can I say? Y’all had a good year. But, add some pieces. Get some depth. Hopefully, y’all get some depth. Y’all be right back in it.”
Of course, Pierce wasn’t completely sincere in his message. He started chuckling at the end of the video. Pierce was also active on X, and he was a bit more troll-ish on that app.

Pierce noted how “traumatizing” it is to be a fan of New York sports, with the last championship being the Giants — 13 years ago. He also brought up his trek from his home to the FS1 studios after the Knicks defeated the Celtics in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference semifinals.
“I walked so the Knicks can sit lmao,” he wrote on X.
